A plot discovered

Seems as if there's been a plot afoot to overthrow the Crown, but thanks to Master Thomas Ryker's checkered background and many powerful contacts, he has been alerted.

The plot thickens as those who are involved come to light and Thomas busies himself with defending the Queen and keeping her securely upon the Throne.

Even in the midst of all the excitement, Thomas manages to find the time to woo the lovely Joelle, although it is difficult at times to discern who is wooing whom. Now just what are the two of them doing in that small village church??????

Queen Shawna continues to rule with a cool hand and a warm heart. Is Master Mountford responsible for a sudden increase in temperature of said heart? The attraction between these two continues to grow, but what of the rift of their stations that could enviably doom the romance?

Sam Mountford has replaced Thomas Ryker as head of the CTC, so what are the Queen’s new plans for Thomas? A beheading for his audacity towards the Duchess or will her love for Joelle find Thomas in Queen Shawna’s good graces and find himself in even better circumstances?

Shopping, theatre and desire

Its opening night at the Newington Butts Theater and Sophia is a nervous as a long tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs, as she waits to take the stage. The theater has lost its patron and is in danger of folding. What will happen to dear Sophia if no new patron is found and the theater closes? Will her lecherous lover put her on the streets to work?

Xerces is exploring his new wealth and power in The Royal Exchange. Ever the clothes-horse, he is tripping from one establishment to another, raising hopes and profits in some and dashing down others.

Queen Shawna has given tentative approval of Joelle and Thomas’ relationship although she is not completely happy about their illicit romance. Thomas has received a missive from overseas which seems to bode ill for the couple and Joelle has been appointed Lady High Steward of England. Will this serve to further the gap between the two lovers?

Princess Heather’s stock has come in and what lovely creatures they are. The Duchess was more than please with the horses Heather secured for her and has even given one as a gift.

Mountford’s suit of the Queen is progressing and he’s been bold enough to take advantage of a moment alone with his latest passion. Will the Queen succumb? Only time will tell.

Settling in

Ryker is moving up in the world. Not only has he taken up residence in Lesser Frogmore and developed more than friendly relationship with the Duchess, he has also acquired the Tabard and a warehouse heretofore owned by the man who employes him.

Joelle employes Beth in seeking news of Ryker's father based on the slim threads of information Ryker had from his mother and a note found in locket.

Mountford found himself an immediate favorite of the Queen and is now installed at Court and continues to curry favor. A quick trip back to the Tabard to take Beth on a buying spree allows her to enlist his aid in her search for Ryker's father.

Meanwhile, the pretty Princess seems to be yearning for someone as well as awaiting the arrival of her shipment of horses and the Crellin household has just returned from laying to rest Xerces' father and brother. His mother is anxious to marry him off, but who might be a suitable bride?

Newly arrived on the scene is Sophia, a lost soul among so many in the streets of London. Will anyone come to her rescue???

Gaming with nobles and commoners alike

Commoners and nobles rub shoulders at the gaming evening held by Joelle. The three royal ladies and the Crellins meet local scoundrels Thomas Ryker (a criminal), Samuel Mountford (a forger and lothario) and Beth Webster (a prostitute and go-between), Beth pretending to be Mountford's wife.

Ryker and Mountford are soon cutting a dash with the ladies, Ryker falling for the Duchess and Mountford receiving an invite to visit the Queen.

Mountford returns to the Tabard, a disreputable tavern in Southwark, where he and Beth keep rooms. They share information (and a lot more besides), and agree that she will find out more about the Duchess' motives for the party, while Mountford will attempt to curry favour with the Queen with the aid of his trusty lute and smouldering good looks.

The following day, Joelle and Ryker go out together for a ride, Sam pays a visit to Her Majesty, and Beth arrives at Joelle's to see what she can find out.1
